Biography
Dr. Belal Shehab is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over 15 years of experience, who graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry in Egypt in 2009. His passion for surgery led him to dedicate his internship year to hands-on experience in the operating room at Cairo University, gaining valuable exposure to various maxillofacial surgeries.
In 2014, he began his residency in the Cranio-Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery Department at Alexandria University, completing his training in 2018 and earning both the Arab Board certificate and the prestigious MOMS RCSed from the UK. He also enhanced his skills through an externship at Tufts University in Boston, USA, and pursued a master’s degree in clinical research. In 2022, he received a scholarship from Harvard Medical School for clinical research training, and in April 2023, he published his first peer-reviewed paper in the Al-Azhar Journal of Dental Sciences.
Now a consultant in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Belal practices the full scope of the specialty and stays updated through national and international conferences. Recently relocated to the UAE, he serves as a senior specialist in oral maxillofacial surgery and is recognized as a distinguished implantologist by the Department of Health (DOH). Passionate about teaching, he employs active learning methodologies to effectively guide interns and junior staff.

Diagnose and manage diseases, disorders, or injuries of the orofacial complex

Manage TMJ disorders and salivary gland diseases

Diagnose and manage dento-facial deformities (orthognathic surgeries), whether acquired, developmental, or congenital

Prescribe and interpret oral and maxillofacial-related X-ray images

Perform simple and complex dento-alveolar procedures

Harvest hard or soft tissue for grafting surgery on the orofacial complex

Reduce and fix fractures of bones or dislocations of joints in the orofacial complex via open or closed approaches

Manage and prescribe medication for complex orofacial infections

Prescribe medications appropriate to scope, adhering to UAE Federal laws and local regulations

Evaluate, plan treatment, and perform pre-prosthetic and prosthetic surgery, including implant and peri-implant procedures

Diagnose, plan, and surgically treat benign tumors and subsequent reconstructions

Collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the management of head and neck cancer, as well as craniofacial and cleft cases
